Chelsea insist Antonio Conte is happy despite exit reports

Chelsea insist Antonio Conte is happy at the club following reports he will leave, Sky sources understand.

The club are still planning on making Conte the best paid manager in our history with an extension on his current contract. The fact is that the Blues have won two Premier League titles in the last three years and hence believe that there is no need to change their strategy at this point.

Whilst claims of a potential exit are probably premature, as they were repeatedly in Italy at Juventus, it's quite possible when Conte eventually leaves Chelsea that transfers will have a lot to do with it.

The Sun now claims that Conte has received the full support from Chelsea's hierarchy, which sends a clear message to the squad that the Italian's decision to axe Costa is fully supported.

The 47-year-old Italian enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with the Blues as he guided the club to the Premier League title and he appeared set to enjoy a long stay with the West London outfit.

Inter Milan and AC Milan are also strongly linked with a move for Costa. Players are bought and developed, and invariably sold at a profit if they do not make their mark, not least those who graduate through the youth academy. Last summer saw Conte have to work with the players given to him rather than the players he wanted.

Antonio Conte and Roman Abramovich were always likely to lock horns over transfers.

He was named first-team head coach, rather than manager, outlining his priorities are on the training pitch, rather than in transfer negotiations. Hazard is expected to be offered a new deal worth around £300,000-a-week.

Conte had reportedly given technical director Michael Emenalo and director Marina Granovskaia a list of transfer targets.

Press Association Sport understands Conte, who is now on holiday, is committed to Chelsea and will return for pre-season in the first week of July.
