Cristiano Ronaldo : Real Madrid star summoned for July 31 tax hearing

It's reported that Ronaldo is desperate to leave the club this summer after being accused of tax fraud by authorities in Spain.

Speaking on Onda Cero's El Transistor programme, Perez said, "Cristiano isn't someone who is motivated by money". Ronaldo could be fined as much €40m if he contests the accusation in court and loses.

Mourinho left Real Madrid in 2013 to manage English club Chelsea for a second spell before signing with United in 2016.

"Cristiano has a contract and he is a Real Madrid player".

Perez, a 70-year-old construction magnate said to be close to Ronaldo, was elected unopposed on Monday for a third term in charge of Europe's most successful club.

Ronaldo was not on a list of transfer targets that United manager Jose Mourinho gave to executive chairman Ed Woodward before the end of the season.

Madrid are unlikely to commit to selling the Spain worldwide while there remains a possibility that Ronaldo could leave.

Prosecutors said Mourinho had already settled a previous claim relating to his Spanish taxes, which resulted in a penalty of €1.15 million in 2014.

He also claimed he has not spoken with the player, who is representing Portugal at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation. "There is no turning back".

Other stars to have fallen foul of the tax laws include Neymar, Radamel Falcao, Javier Mascherano and Ricardo Carvalho, says the Daily Telegraph.

But Bayern have trashed the reports. Let us know in the comments section below. "But now in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, we want to clarify once and for all that this rumour has no basis and must be referred to in the realm of fables".

Reports of a rejected €60million bid from United seem wide of the mark, though, according to Madrid president Perez, who remains keen to keep Morata in the Spanish capital.

Perez's opponents have criticised reforms in the club statutes which have toughened criteria for aspiring candidates.

The 34-year-old is adamant, however, that no agreement has been reached with any club at this stage.
