Dual-screen YotaPhone 3 announced in China for 2017 release

Dual-screen YotaPhone 3 announced in China for 2017 release

The YotaPhone 2 was released in late 2014 for some regions, but the North American release was cancelled.

The third-generation smartphone has been in making for quite sometime, with Yota first said that device was being developed in 2015. Unfortunately, this announcement, made at a conference in China this week, was very slim on details. According to a new report, the YotaPhone 3 has been announced at an expo in China. A model with 64GB storage will cost about $350, while a 128GB model will cost $450. An unconfirmed overseas report states that online orders for Russian Federation will be available around September with sales in China starting at the same time, and the Chinese model of the phone is expected to have local apps such as Baidu and WeChat pre-installed. Along with the YotaPhone 3, the company also promised to launch a low-priced YotaPhone 2c, but as we all know, that never got materialized. Both will feature the dual-display combo, with a full-color display (no word on exact display type or features was given) on the front and an e-ink display on the back, just like the previous models.

Hopefully things will change this time around, and there will be a United States version of the YotaPhone 3.

As far as hardware goes, the YotaPhone 2 was strictly a mid-range device by 2015's standards. It was also due to be released in North America.
