IS Claims Responsibility of Fatal Stabbing of Israeli Policewoman

Numerous recent Palestinian attacks in Jerusalem took place in this area.

Ramallah- Each of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine PFLP, Hamas and terror group ISIS have claimed involvement in the attack staged by three young Palestinian nationals in Jerusalem which killed a police officer.

The trio were all shot dead at the scene.

According to officer, two assailants opened fire on a group of officers who returned fire, and a third stabbed the border female officer a short distance away before being shot.

The investigation will also examine how the attack ended with such a tragic result.

He said Hamas's newly elected Gaza leader, Yehya al-Sinwar, had met in Cairo with Egyptian officials and discussed securing the frontier with Egypt's Sinai peninsula, where Islamist State terrorists have killed hundreds of policemen and soldiers. In a briefing with journalists Jerusalem police commander Yoram Halevy said the three men involved in the attack were aged between between 18 and 19 years old and had entered Jerusalem from the West Bank.

It was one in two incidents in which three Palestinians armed with semi-automatic weapons and knives attacked Israeli guards in the Old City.

"With God's help, we succeeded in carrying out an attack in the heart of Jerusalem, near the Temple Mount", the Islamic State, also known as IS, ISIS, ISIL or Daesh, said in a statement through its Amaq news agency, and warned that the attack "will not be the last".

"Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, desolation nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise".
