Md. Mom Drives to Atlanta Airport, Leaves Behind Daughter, Goes Missing

Miranda Hakimi Harvey, 29, of Odenton, Maryland, was found at the Graduate Hotel in Athens, Georgia.

The two strangers Miranda Harvey reportedly left her young daughter with at the Atlanta airport said they began looking after the child at about 2 a.m. yesterday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Harvey and her daughter, originally from Maryland, were in the airport's atrium when the woman allegedly asked a random couple to watch the girl while she went shopping.

Except Harvey never returned.

Police do not know why Harvey chose to drive to Atlanta, a 10-hour, 680-mile drive from her home.

The girl is with police as officers try to make contact with Harvey's family in Maryland.

Before they found her, police believed Harvey could have been driving the 2016 white Nissan Versa bearing Florida tag HKNA2 that she rented at the airport to leave town in. That vehicle has Florida license plate number HKNA25.

Atlanta Police Sergeant Warren Pickard said Miranda Harvey's motivations for abandoning her daughter with strangers remains unknown and deemed the situation "concerning". "Who would leave a 4-year-old child with strangers?" If anyone has information on where she might be, they are asked to call police.

Right now, police said their priority is locating the mom.

Police positively identified Harvey at the hotel after they received a call just before 10am Saturday, alerting them to her whereabouts.
