Microsoft acquires Cloudyn to bolster Azure customer tools

United States software giant Microsoft has made another acquisition in Israel.

Microsoft made another Azure acquisition Thursday, adding Israel's Cloudyn and its cloud monitoring and analytics tools to the Azure team.

Prior to its acquisition, Cloudyn has raised over $20 million from investors like Carmel Ventures, Titanium Investments, and RDSeed. RDC will receive some $17 million from the deal.

There is no word in either Microsoft's or Cloudyn's announcements about this acquisition whether or not the other competitor cloud services will continue ot be supported.

Microsoft Azure falls behind Amazon Web Services' cloud platform market share of 33% but Microsoft does retain about 95% of the enterprise productivity market. "One of the special and interesting qualities of Cloudyn is the fact that the company adopted a policy of diversity of employment, and it is a wonderful example of the fact that it is possible to employ people of diverse backgrounds in Israeli high tech". "Cloudyn capabilities will be incorporated into our product portfolio that offers customers the industry's broadest set of cloud management, security and governance solutions".

Today, Microsoft announced that it's acquiring Cloudyn - a purchase that will help its Azure business customers to "optimize their investments in cloud services".

Cloudyn's tools help customers understand how much they are spending across multicloud environments, tracking spending and even offering recommendations for more efficient usage.

Cloudyn has not only been a Microsoft partner for some years, the company has supported cost management for Azure for quite some time as well. Cloudyn solutions have a proven track record for enabling its customer's significant returns on investments in the cloud to the tune of 286 percent by establishing cloud efficiencies.
