Oklahoma City Thunder's Andre Roberson named All-Defense Second Team

Kawhi Leonard was named today to the NBA All-Defensive first team for the third straight season, while the perpetually underrated Danny Green made the second team for his first-ever all-defense honors. He has never won a Defensive Player of the Year award, but is the favorite for 2016-17.

Green received 99 of a possible 100 first-team votes from a panel of media voters.

Green led the league in steals this season with a career-high 2.0 per game to go along with 1.4 blocks per game. Speaking of the Hamptons 5, each member of that notorious lineup received votes for All-Defensive teams. He is the second player in franchise history to earn multiple All-Defensive Second team honors, joining Chris Paul, who was second team during the 2007-'08 season and first team in 2008-'09. Gobert (Utah) was next in line with 97 first-team and two second-team votes, with Leonard (San Antonio) receiving 93 first-team and six second-team votes. He has led the National Basketball Association in steals in six of the past 10 seasons.

Those three players are the finalist for the 2017 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award, which will be announced Monday night during the NBA Awards at 6 p.m. PDT on TNT.

Guard Tony Allen (Memphis), center Anthony Davis (New Orleans) and forwards Andre Roberson (Oklahoma City) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee) joined Green on the second unit. The other three are George Gervin, Robinson and Duncan.

San Antonio reached the Western Conference Finals in its first season without Duncan, who retired last July.
