Brighter Day — Sunday Morning Weather

Brighter Day — Sunday Morning Weather

An upper level low continues to spin just off shore in the Gulf of Mexico creating the chance for more hit or miss showers and storms during the morning and afternoon on Sunday. Temperatures will be closer to seasonable, in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Heat index values climbed into the lower 100° range.

Plenty of humidity and heat still to go around across the Midstate, and now today that will mean showers and storms by this afternoon and evening. It will be another great night for air conditioning, with muggy overnight lows not too far from 70 degrees. Humidity levels and thunderstorm chances will sure enough rise in tandem later in the week. A line of thunderstorms may move through the Midlands. We do expect watches and warning this afternoon, so stay with abc27 for more updates. Some of those storms could produce heavy rainfall and strong winds Sunday evening. But since it is late July, the next shot of sticky summer weather is never too far away. The heat will be building again by the middle of the week, as highs will surge back to near the 100-degree mark by Wednesday into Thursday.

The weather pattern and abundant rains have made it more hard to reach the century march.

With highs closer to 80 instead of 90, it won't feel almost as oppressive as it did much of last week. Mainly clear tonight with lows in the 50's and 60's.
