Liverpool braced for second Coutinho bid from Barca

Liverpool braced for second Coutinho bid from Barca

Barcelona have reportedly sent club officials to England to push forward with their plans to sign Liverpool playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian's future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks despite the fact that he only signed a new contract with the Reds back in January.

Sky Sports reports the English club are expecting the Blaugrana to return with a second bid this week to follow on from reports in El Mundo Deportivo that the former Inter man is now Barca's priority. "But what I can say, keeping the group together would make sense".

The Catalan giants have already seen one bid of £72m knocked back last week but it stands to reason that they will come back with a higher offer in the near future in their effort to land the Brazilian worldwide. Liverpool have already turned down a £72m bid.

How this one plays out could have a massive bearing on Liverpool's season (and Coutinho's) but Klopp and Liverpool themselves are remaining calm about the whole thing.

Barcelona want Coutinho at the Camp Nou and are convinced the player is ready to move as soon as Liverpool accept a bid.

The two players were friends as youth team players and one of Neymar's gripes at Barcelona - and one of the key reasons why he has sought a move away from Spain this summer - is a feeling of being the last Brazilian standing at the Camp Nou. Psg offer him € 30 million-a-year and Neymar's father is pushing for his son to move to the French capital.

Liverpool are now preparing for their second full season under Jurgen Klopp after the German led the Reds to a fourth-placed finish last term.
