Mads Mikkelsen in talks to play Chaos Walking villain

And Mads, what do we say when evil knocks on our door?

Chaos Walking, which stars Spider-Man: Homecoming's Tom Holland and Star Wars heroine Daisy Ridley, is set in a dystopian future in a place called New World.

Should the deal for Mikkelsen go through, he will play a ruthless mayor searching for the young man he once mentored and a vigilant keeper of his own secrets.

Chaos Walking is based on the YA novel of the same name by Patrick Ness where a virus has killed almost all the women on New World and allows everyone to see into each other's thoughts.

Chaos Walking takes place on a colony planet where nearly all of the women have been killed off by a virus. Chaos Walking will begin shooting in Montreal later this summer. Holland plays Todd, a boy who happens upon a odd and silent girl named Viola (Ridley), who may have the key to unlocking the secrets of New World.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) worked on the script, as did Jamie Linden (Money Monster).

Mikkelsen has played the villain in many of his roles, most notably the James Bond film Casino Royale, Marvel's Doctor Strange and the title role in NBC's Hannibal.

Chaos Walking is scheduled for a March 2019 release. Mikkelsen has been on a bit of a tear recently, starring in big budget blockbusters Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Doctor Strange.

Mikkelsen, who stars in the upcoming survival thriller Arctic, from director Joe Penna, is repped by UTA and Art Management.
