Abbasi arrives in Karachi on maiden trip as Pak PM

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has announced a development package of Rs25 billion for Karachi and Rs5 billion package for Hyderabad.

Prime Minister Abbasi is accompanied by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal.

Talking about security, PM Shahid Khaqan stressed that the law and order situation is essential for peace, prosperity and development, and further steps should be taken for this objective.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that as a result of concerted efforts of the PML-N government and sacrifices of security forces, law and order had been restored in Karachi.

He was talking to Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah who called on him at the Governor House, said PM office media wing in a press release.

He laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum and offered Fateha to pay homage and respect to the father of the nation. During the meeting, security institutions will brief him about the targeted operation underway in the metropolis.

Rangers would continue its job in the port city as the law and order would be improved further, he said.

He also held meetings with leaders from Muttahidda Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP).

The current situation in Karachi was discussed in the meeting.

Abbasi was sworn in as premier earlier this month after being elected prime minister by lawmakers in the National Assembly, bagging 221 votes to beat other contenders.
