Apple iPhone 8 Trying Too Hard To Not Be Galaxy S8

iPhone 8 rumors are the gifts that keep on giving... while driving techies bonkers in the process. Ltd. now owns 9,457,769 shares of the iPhone maker's stock valued at $1,096,072,000 after buying an additional 8,571,027 shares during the period.

Since it will be the newest model in Apple's iPhone series, it is expected that great demand will follow the iPhone 8, especially the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) versions, and that there will be a constraint in supplies for the first quarter of 2018.

Apple's iPhone 9 facial recognition tech looks set to support Apple Pay, as well as working with third party apps. Echoing a number of previous reports, Kuo adds that initial supply of Apple's highly anticipated device will be extremely constrained and that Apple may only be able to manufacture "between 2 million and 4 million" during the current quarter.

While we are still about a month away from the launch of the iPhone 8, excitement has now peaked. The new design could feature an enlarged elongated 5.8in display - a bit like the Samsung Galaxy S8 - and it'll be framed by much thinner bezels than before, with Forbes giving a figure of 4mm.

Another tidbit of iPhone news to emerge this week relates to the handset's colours and comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a respectable analyst from KGI Securities who has a good track record of predicting new Apple products. So far, so Apple. The video compares several design features, but interestingly the iPhone 7s Plus (and presumably, by extension, the iPhone 7s) will feature glass back panels as well. Very little is known about this feature until this week.

We're rapidly approaching the release date of the new iPhone - so blurry leaked photos and unconfirmed rumours are popping up all over the place.

"Apple's top brass recently approved the September launch of two LCD models, but the OLED iPhone launch is likely to be delayed to November", a source told the publication. Also, it's possible the lines of code have absolutely nothing to do with facial recognition technology. Reports of Apple mulling to do away with Touch ID is already in buzz.

Rumours are suggesting the iPhone 8's power button could be nearly twice the size of the iPhone 7's, and that may be a direct result of its new functionality.

If this year's handset, expected to be called the iPhone 8, the iPhone X or the iPhone Pro, does indeed get an elongated display, then Apple will have to make changes to its iOS software to accommodate. Apple's 2017 flagship will deliver on a lot of ends where Cupertino has slacked off over the past couple of years.
