Cristiano Ronaldo labels five-match La Liga ban as "incomprehensible"

Cristiano Ronaldo labels five-match La Liga ban as

Ronaldo, 32, had already had an appeal rejected by the Spanish Football Federation last week, with the Spanish Disciplinary Committee for Sports turning down his final appeal on 22 August (Tuesday).

The Portuguese forward shoved official Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea after being sent off during Real's 3-1 victory over Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup on August 13.

Ronaldo was given an additional four-match ban for shoving the referee in the back after he was shown the red card.

In typical fashion, Ronaldo took to Instagram to criticise the decision.

Real will also be without their all-time top scorer for La Liga matches at home to Valencia and Levante and away at Real Sociedad.

The Portuguese superstar was dismissed for earning two yellow cards - the second of which was for simulation - late in Real Madrid's Supercopa win over Barcelona earlier in the month.

"Another incomprehensible decision", Ronaldo said on his Twitter account, voicing his displeasure.

"We're in good shape fitness-wise and there are players like Cristiano Ronaldo who are going to start the game and play the full 90 minutes".

"From injustice to injustice, they will never bring me down", he wrote. "Thank you to all who have supported me", he added.

"We have just started the league, it's the first game of 38 and it's a tremendous effort".
