Minnesota coach PJ Fleck rewards kicker with scholarship from T-shirt cannon

Minnesota coach PJ Fleck rewards kicker with scholarship from T-shirt cannon

Gophers football coach P. J. Fleck didn't just casually tell senior backup kicker Justin Juenemann that he'd earned a scholarship.

So Fleck invited Kyle Tanner, a patient at the hospital, to a team meeting. But off the field, Juenemann has been one of the regulars at Minnesota's Masonic Children's Hospital. While addressing the team, the patient said Juenemann is his favorite player because of his frequent visits to the hospital. Kyle said that Juenemann is one of his favorite players after hearing that Fleck chose to give Kyle the chance to deliver an unforgettable surprise to Juenemann.

Juenemann is a walk-on to the team.

"Justin, congrats on earning a scholarship!"

"I've never seen anybody serve and give more than that guy, who is not a star player", said Fleck in the video.

Well done, Minnesota. Juenemann will be a redshirt senior in the fall.

Fleck posted the video on his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon. "He could easily not do it, and nobody would say anything".

Juenemann has yet to appear in a game with the Golden Gophers, but if he does, it'll be as a scholarship athlete for the first time in his life.
