Seahawks George Fant out for season with torn ACL

Seahawks George Fant out for season with torn ACL

The Vikings looked to improve on their gameplay in week 2 when they traveled to Seattle to take on the Seahawks, an enemy that Minnesota knows quite well thanks to a memorable playoff matchup and some familiar faces in their organization. Coach Pete Carroll knelt by Fant's side and held his hand as trainers applied an air cast to his leg.

Due mainly to Reiff's back injury suffered at the start of camp, the Vikings offensive line has yet to take an entire practice, let alone a preseason game, together.

Fant suffered the injury with 8 minutes, 49 seconds left in the second quarter.

But on this night, Wilson appeared capable of playing behind just about any offensive line - though it should be noted that the Vikings played their defensive starters for just two series.

Offensive left tackle Riley Reiff (back) and left guard Alex Boone (knee) did not suit up against Seattle at CenturyLink Field.

Wilson hit on six of his first seven passes, at which point he had a ideal passer rating, including 5 of 6 for 60 yards on the first series, an 11-play 77-yard march against Minnesota's No. 1 defense.

The game will be nationally televised on Friday and can be found on the NFL Network, along with any local broadcasts for the two teams. On Friday, though, he got a start.

Reiff was replaced by Rashod Hill and Boone by Nick Easton.

Minnesota had 110 yards on 12 plays in the first quarter going against Seattle's starting defense.

If Fant's injury is as serious as it appears it could be, Joeckel would be an option at left tackle, which is the position he played over his first three seasons in Jacksonville.

Two weeks prior, Carroll said no Seahawk had made a bigger transformation physically than Fant, who bulked up over 25 pounds this offseason.
