Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition bookings open

The Czech carmaker also revealed details of its 7-seater SUV Kodiaq, which is likely to be launched in the last quarter of 2017.

Internationally, a year ago in September in Berlin, the Skoda Kodiaq SUV has first unveiled, and the production of the SUV started a month later in October 2016.

Skoda will be bringing the "RS" tag back with the new Octavia RS.

At its core, the line-up has hardly changed, with 113bhp 1.6-litre and 148bhp 2.0-litre diesels, and equivalent petrol engines notable because they offer near-identical Carbon dioxide emissions.

Skoda has started accepting pre-booking for its upcoming models, the Rapid Monte Carlo and the Octavia RS, in the country. New infotainment and connectivity systems as well as better driver assistance systems will be part of the new vehicle too, along with sporty interiors.

Under the bonnet, the Rapid is expected to carry forward the same 110hp 1.5-litre engine that is also found on the Ameo. The special edition will get blacked out front grille, roof, alloy wheels, boot lid spoiler, wing mirrors, bumper and side skirts.

Czech auto manufacturer, Skoda is all set to reveal its first seven seater SUV Kodiaq in India. The limited edition market is already on sale in the global market. It is developed on the MQB platform of Volkswagen and has common keystones with Skoda's Superb and the Octavia. Kodiaq SUV is the first seven-seater SUV of Skoda. The turbocharged petrol unit of the 2 litres, 4 cylinder churns out 177 bhp of max power production and 340 Nm of max torque. It is expected to be based on the top-end trim of the regular Skoda Rapid, which was launched in November 2016, and will come with a host of aesthetic changes both inside and out along with additional features.

With the launch of Kodiaq and suspected launch of Karoq in India, Skoda might be looking to make its presence felt in the Indian SUV market, which it lost after discontinuation of Yeti.
