Sony Sets 'Silver And Black' Release Date; 'Bad Boys 3' Now Unset

In addition to the upcoming Venom spin-off starring Tom Hardy, the studio has announced another spin-off, Silver and Black, will be released in February 2019.

Along with the confirmed release date for Silver and Black, Bad Boys 3 is now unset.

First up, Sony Pictures seems to be going on all in this separate Spider-Man universe that will not be tied to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, nor involve the webslinger himself.

Just last week, Sony announced that Tom Hardy will take on the title role in Venom, another Spider-Man-based film, with Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer on board to direct. Venom is eyeing a fall start of production and is scheduled to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.

But more so than that, Sable and her father Ernst Sablinova believe that Black Cat could somehow lead them to the movie's real villain, the robotics-themed scientist Mendel Stromm.

In the comic books, Silver Sable is a mercenary who runs a company that hunts war criminals.

Prince-Bythewood is best known for directing The Secret Life of Bees and cocreating Fox's TV series Shots Fired, and she recently directed the pilot for Freeform's upcoming Cloak & Dagger TV series.

Next, Sony Pictures also brought some bad news for Bad Boys fans eagerly awaiting a reunion of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Columbia comedy Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly comedy Holmes and Watson, has moved from November 9, 2018 from August 3, 2018.

As for what Silver and Black will be about, some claims are floating around from fairly reputable sources, although nothing as official as Sony's official release date announcement (basically, you've reached the "rumors" half of this article). The film, titled Soldado, will be directed by Stefano Sollima and feature the return of actors Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin.

Meanwhile, a few films have been delayed on Sony's release calendar. Alethea Jones is still set to direct with Anne Hathaway playing the title doll from Mattel.
