Trump Calls Guam Gov to 'Say Hello' and Promise Full Federal Support

"Tourism, I can tell you this - tourism, you're going to go up like tenfold with the expenditure of no money so I congratulate you", Mr Trump is heard saying in a video posted to Facebook by Guam's governor Eddie Baza Calvo.

Calvo answers, "as the governor of Guam representing the people of Guam and as an American citizen, I never felt more safe or confident than with you at the helm". So, with all the criticism going on over there from a guy who is being targeted, we need a president like you, so I'm just so thankful.

Trump assured Calvo that "We are behind you 1,000 percent".

"The circumstances are unfortunate but this is a good opportunity for us to educate the world about Guam and our culture, about where we are, and who we are", Guam Visitors Bureau marketing director Josh Tyquiengco told AFP. "I wanted to call you and say hello, how are you?"

Mr Calvo has spent most of the week assuring Guam's 160,000 residents of their safety despite the threats.

Mr Trump and Mr Calvo were speaking over the phone.
