BSF jawan martyred in cease fire violation by Pakistan

One BSF jawan was killed as Pakistan's forces resorted to heavy mortar shelling and firing in Arnia sector along the International Border in Jammu district today.

Sources said that the BSF engaged in retaliatory firing following which there was intermittent firing reported from other border outposts along the Arnia sub-sector.

"Unprovoked firing by Pak forces on BSF posts across Jammu IB injured 3 BSF troopers (in Poonch & Jammu districts yesterday)", the Border Security Force (BSF) had said in a tweet.

"One BSF trooper has been executed in truce infringement by Pakistan officers".

In the firing, Constable Bijender Bahadur hailing from Uttar Pradesh, who was deployed at a forward post was injured seriously. He is made due by his better half Sushmita Singh.

This is the fifth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in six days, according to PTI. The continued incidents of ceasefire violation by Pakistan has already led to the suspension of cross LoC travel and trade between people living in Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir for the last over two months. The officials said that till August 1, there have been 285 such actions by the Pakistan army, while in 2016, the number was significantly less at 228 for the entire year.
