Haryana saw deadly violence by dera followers after Ram Rahim was convicted in the rape cases by the special CBI court on August 25, leaving 41 people dead and injuring over 250 people in Haryana.

Former Dera manager Ranjit Singh, who was believed to be privy to a number of wrong things going on inside the sect headquarters, was shot dead in July 2003.

It is alleged that Gurmeet Ram Rahim ordered the killings of former Dera Sacha Sauda manager Ranjit Singh and Sirsa-based journalist Ram Chander Chhattrapati, who were responsible for making public an anonymous letter that revealed information about Dera chief's rapes. He has been named as the main conspirator in both cases.

Khatta Singh's lawyer Navkiran Singh said on Saturday that his client changed his 2007 statement in 2012 out of fear. The CBI court will take up his plea and announce its decision on September 22.
