Theresa May scolds Trump for speculating about London terror attack

President Trump called for a "larger, tougher" travel ban early Friday after the attack in London, calling the perpetrator a "loser" and saying the US will have to get "nasty" to fight terrorism.

Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the explosion in which 29 people were hurt after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blasted on a Tube train at the Parsons Green Station.

In his first tweet on the subject, Trump blamed a "sick and demented" "loser terrorist" for the attack.

"Another attack in London by a loser terrorist. These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Must be proactive!" the president tweeted Friday morning.

"True or not-and I'm sure he doesn't know-this is so unhelpful from leader of our ally and intelligence partner", tweeted Timothy, who was May's chief of staff until the June general election and worked for her as a senior adviser when she was home secretary.

The White House said Trump and May spoke Friday.

Mr Trump's keenness to underline a series of United Kingdom terror attacks, virtually in real time, has led to repeated outcry across the Atlantic that has helped indefinitely delay his much-vaunted state visit to Britain. A hunt was on for a suspect the British media labelled as the "bucket bomber". "But together, by working together, we will defeat them". London Mayor Sadiq Khan said Londoners will see more police on the streets of the British capital after an explosion at a metro station, which officers said was a "terrorist incident". In fact, I'm going to call the Prime Minister right now.

The normally tight-lipped agency called the allegations "nonsense", adding that "they are utterly ridiculous and should be ignored".

Asked later whether he had been briefed on any intelligence about the attack, Mr Trump appeared to sidestep the issue saying he had been briefed "on numerous things" including North Korea.

"The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific - but stupidly, that would not be politically correct", the president said in a series of tweets.

Moments later, he added: "Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner".

In his next post, Trump seemingly called for the internet - "their main recruitment tool" - to be "cut off".
