Colin Kaepernick confirms desire to play in National Football League, explains silence

Having been out of action for almost a year, Kaepernick still wants to play in the NFL.

His reversal came after CBS anchor James Brown asked him about kneeling.

A CBS sports reporter who said Sunday that Colin Kaepernick would stand for the national anthem if given the opportunity to play in the NFL again later admitted that he never discussed the issue with the former quarterback.

While all this is in line with other recent reporting about Kaepernick, La Canfora appeared to break some news towards the end of the segment.

"Standing for Anthem wasn't something that I spoke to Colin about Saturday". In March, sources claimed Kaepernick would be willing to stop kneeling for the upcoming football season.

But Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported on Sunday morning that Kaepernick has in fact been training to make a comeback and that his representation is speaking with teams around the league. He also plans to donate the money from his jersey sales to charity.

"Colin would have to address any future demonstrations".

However, after reports exploded quoting the CBS account, La Canfora took to Twitter to reveal that he had not spoken to Kaepernick about the question.

Kaepernick's girlfriend, Nessa Diab, posted her own message, which read: "The reports that Colin will stand for the anthem are completely false". All Kaepernick needs to do to make these folks happy is to stop existing, though even that might not be enough.

"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its trousers on", Kaepernick tweeted with an attribution to Winston Churchill.

The president told the crowd at the rally on September 22 that teams should fire players who kneel during the anthem. Trump's comments last month drew a leaguewide response as more players chose to kneel, link arms or otherwise react during the national anthem. He told the media he was protesting against the treatment of blacks in the United States.
