European Union stops natural gas sales to North Korea

Hurricanes, tsunamis and now nuclear bombs.

"The Council (of the EU) further strengthened its sanctions against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by transposing the sectoral sanctions imposed by UNSC Resolution 2375", the council said in a statement released Tuesday.

Tensions have risen in recent weeks over North Korea's nuclear weapons and missile programs as Pyongyang has test-fired several missiles and conducted what it said was a test explosion of a hydrogen bomb as it advances toward its goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the USA mainland.

University of Hawaii students reportedly opened their inbox Monday to find an email headlined: "In the event of a nuclear attack" - an ominous message sent as North Korea continues to threaten a missile attack on the United States.

"For this type of event, the ten campuses of the University of Hawaii will rely on the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency siren system and follow agency instructions on 'sheltering in place, '" the email said.

Daniel Meisenzahl sent the email, and told The Washington Post he regretted the subject heading straightaway.

As we all know, North Korea is continuously threatening the United States with a missile attack. He might also have put into all caps: "NO REASON FOR ALARM" and other language to the effect of "Don't take this the wrong way".

Despite the national attention, the email didn't generate a large number of complaints from students or faculty, Meisenzahl said.

"The subject line could use some work", he said.

North Korea is also facing strong sanctions from the USA and firm condemnation from the global community in the wake of repeated missile launches and nuclear tests.

North Korea's leadership has told Russian lawmakers that it possesses a ballistic missile with a range of 3,000 kilometers (1864.11 miles) that will be able to reach U.S. territory after modernization, the Interfax news agency reported on Tuesday.
