Boston law enforcement said it's aware of the reports but deferred to Las Vegas police when it pertained to further information on the investigation.

Paddock, who also researched hotels in Chicago overlooking the outdoor music festival Lollapalooza, according to the NBC News report, checked into the Mandalay Bay casino and hotel last Thursday, where he spent time gambling on high stakes video poker machines before meticulously setting up for Sunday's deadly attack over the Harvest 91 country music festival.

Lombardo said Paddock booked a room at the 21-story Ogden condo building via Airbnb, during the three-day Life Is Beautiful festival in downtown Las Vegas. "As you saw earlier this week the city conducts extensive public safety planning and training around major events, in close coordination with our law enforcement partners, to ensure public safety". Both rooms had an August 6th checkout which is when the festival ends. He booked a second room August 3.

The Blackstone Hotel is located at 636 S Michigan Ave, directly across the street from Chicago's Grant Park where the annual musical festival is held.

TMZ says Paddock, 64, never showed up for his bookings at the hotel. This year the festival began on August 3 and finished on August 6.

"The hotel directly overlooked the main stage as well as several adjoining stages", the TMZ report states.

Police also say Paddock may have planned to escape the scene.

After the disgusting massacre at a Las Vegas music festival on Sunday night that killed 58 and injured hundreds more, concerns emerged immediately about other sites that could be vulnerable to a similar attack.

Officials have said there is no credible threat to Boston.
