Bentley Continental GT3 Racer is ready for the 2018 racing season

Bentley has revealed its new Continental GT3, which will compete in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge next year.

Bentley Motorsport is now working with the M-Sport technical team to develop the new Continental GT3, which is now in the middle of a rigorous six-month testing period in Europe to prepare it for 24-hour endurance races. It has been developed by Bentley Motorsport in Crewe, with technical assistance from the M-Sport rally team that runs the world championship-winning Ford Fiesta World Rally Car.

The Continental GT3 shares little with it's road-going brother besides its name and aluminum chassis, helping it weigh less than 2,866 pounds (Bentley won't tell us the exact number), compared with the fully-loaded luxury GT's 5,000-plus pound curb weight. The Continental GT3's first-generation predecessor itself had some considerable success, with 120 podium finishes and 45 wins across a total of 528 races worldwide.

"After four years of success with our Continental GT3, we're excited to reveal our second-generation vehicle", says Bentley's Director of Motorsport, Brian Gush. The new auto leaves no area or system untouched in the search for even better performance, and the early tests are promising. With a new dry-sump system, new intake system and new exhaust system, the new Continental GT3 has unrestricted power rated at 550 bhp.

It has already started a six-month test program in the UK, France and Portugal, while it is set to complete 24-hour endurance race simulations soon.

The 2018 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup kicks off in Monza on 22 April with Bentley entering two brand-new Continental GT3s.

The vehicle will be made available to customers in June.
