Gujarat Elections 2017: In Gujarat 'vikas has gone crazy,' says Rahul Gandhi

Gujarat Elections 2017: In Gujarat 'vikas has gone crazy,' says Rahul Gandhi

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, now campaigning in poll-bound Gujarat, on Sunday, leveled an attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that while he may spot "faults" of the PM, he would never disrespect the post held by him, in contrast to what Modi would do when he was in Opposition.

Rahul slammed the Modi for disrespecting the office of the prime minister when he was in the Opposition, and said that the Congress would never do the same.

On day 2 of the fourth leg of his campaign, Gandhi will cover Danta, Palanpur, Mota, Deesa, Wadinath Temple, Thara, Totana, Roda, Kansada Darwaja and Patan.

Before reaching Chiloda, Rahul visited Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said his party will continue to fight the "Gabbar Singh tax" - Gandhi's acronym for GST, to reduce the tax cap to 18 per cent from the current 28 per cent. "India does not need five different GST slabs but one tax".

"I sent an email to him and said that let us catch Narendra Modi's mistakes, disturb BJP but maintain the respect of PM's office".

The GST council's decision to remove a majority of items from the highest tax bracket handed Congress a reason to intensify its campaign that Modi government's policy was "flawed" because it had refused to listen to the opposition. "But we speak the truth", Gandhi said in Banaskantha.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday stood firm on his "Vikas paagal ho gaya hai" assertion, in reference to development in Gujarat, claiming he would not abstain from speaking the truth. "Routine work, like birthday wishes, isn't done by me, I give little inputs on it, tweets on political issues are mine". Unlike in the past, his tweets are now often laced with witty one-liners. At Chandrala village, his convoy made an unannounced detour where Rahul stopped to have fafda and tea and interacted with local people.
