Nigeria draw with Algeria to end World Cup qualifiers unbeaten

Nigeria House of Representatives member and former Proprietor of women's football club Omidiran Babes, Alhaja Ayo Omidiran, says the Super Eagles will not be too concerned by the outcome of their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Algeria in Constantine (Friday), Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Having already sealed their place in Russian Federation next summer, the Eagles played against the Fennecs without pressure and got ahead in the game after John Ogu scored with a superb curler after the break.

The Eagles squandered a few scoring opportunities in the first half.

Nigeria's coach, Gernot Rohr, dropped the skipper, John Obi Mikel, for Israeli-based John Ogu and his decision paid off as the midfielder struck in the 61st minute of the tie.

The draw means the Eagles finished the qualifying campaign unbeaten on 14 points while Algeria finished bottom on two points and without a win in the race to the finals.

It was Yacine Brahimi who actually deserves a red card after a head-butt on Abdullahi Shehu that scored the goal that brought the game to a one, one point, thereby saving his people from a supposed to be 1-0 game as planned by the Nigerian team.

The team is expected to depart Constantine for the global friendly against former champions Argentina scheduled to hold in Krasnodar on Tuesday 14 November in Russian Federation.
