Veteran leader PK Dhumal is BJP's CM pick for Himachal Pradesh

Dhumal along with JP Nadda were tipped as the two favoured choice for the top post.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah on Tuesday accused the Congress of trying to downplay Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's efforts for a united India.

"Only BJP can develop Himachal Pradesh".

Elections to the 68-member Himachal Pradesh Assembly will be held on November 9 and the votes counted on December 18 along with Gujarat. "But Rahul baba should tell that what his three generations and his party did for the country in the past 70 years", said Shah while addressing a public rally at Pachhad in Himachal's Sirmaur district.

Sources disclosed that one of the major reasons why the BJP was postponing naming its chief ministerial candidate was the fact that its state unit is infested with factionalism. I want to say that we will fight these 2017 polls in the name of our senior leader Dhumalji.

The decision to name Dhumal, which was announced by BJP chief Amit Shah at an election rally in the state, was taken after hour-long deliberations involving state as well central leaders including party General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal, state in-charge Mangal Pandey and state BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti.

Reacting to the being elevated: "I thank my high command, workers and people of Himachal Pradesh". There had been talks of announcing Union Health Minister J P Nadda as the chief minister in case the BJP is victorious in the upcoming elections. "Rahul asks Modi that what they have done in three years".

Shah attacked chief minister Virbhadra Singh over murder and rape of minor girl, Gudiya, in Kotkhai.

The Congress government in Himachal is neither competent nor capable of ensuring development and the party should be wiped out from the state, he further added.
