WhatsApp Introduces PiP Mode: Apple Users Can Watch YouTube Videos Within App

The Facebook-owned company has rolled out two major features, which are voice record lock and YouTube Picture-in-Picture or PiP mode.

No more countries will have access to the offline features at the moment, although users have already reported video downloads through a YouTube Go app downloaded from unofficial stores.

However, while recording voice messages using the lock feature, users won't be able to view other media in the chat thread, until unless using a 3D touch action.

However, there are some caveats, like you can not view photo/video while recording a locked voice message.

WhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging app in the world, has taken the lead by regularly adding new features on its app across Android and iOS.

Reports are that the new version of the WhatsApp application also brings the YouTube feature onboard.

The information regarding the new WhatsApp update Version 2.17.81 was published on AppStore and first spotted by WABetaInfo, a website that tracks WhatsApp Beta programmes, on Tuesday.

The app is most suitable for regions which have low-bandwidth and also enables users to transfer the videos to friends over Bluetooth. This allows the users to keep watching the video even while chatting. Users who have lower mobile data speeds feel that they can't watch videos as easily because they get stuck at the loading screen. This can be done by swiping up on mic button, which will lock recording and allow you to record the message. "With picture-in-picture, you can also keep watching the video while you navigate to another chat", the App Store description reads.

It may noted that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to switch between voice and video calls amidst an ongoing voice call.

'Note that the YouTube feature in WhatsApp is now disabled, also if the changelog reports it.
