Coach arrested in NY with teen to return to Florida

Caitlyn Frisina, 17, and Rian Rodriguez, 27, were spotted on Friday in Syracuse after the officer noticed the 2001 Mercury Sable that the two reportedly fled Florida in, ABC News reports.

The Florida high school soccer coach accused of running away with a 17-year-old girl appeared in a NY courtroom this morning.

"We had a very attractive, wonderful, very emotional reunion with her a little while ago", the teen's mother, Scarlet Frisina, said at a news conference on Saturday. "We're looking forward to a lot more time together and being able to get back home and move forward as a family", said Scarlet Frisina. According to the Columbia County, Florida Sheriff's Office, she was found with the coach, who was taken into custody. The friend reportedly told police that Frisina had said she was "scared and didn't know what to do" about leaving town with Rodriquez.

Caitlyn was reunited with her parents Saturday in Syracuse.

Rodriguez will be extradited from NY to Florida sometime in the next two weeks, Hunter said.

According to Sgt. Murray Smith, with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, it appears Rodriguez began a relationship with Caitlyn in August or September. The coach faces charges for interference with child custody, but may also face more charges.

"We are so thankful and blessed to have our daughter back with us", her mother Scarlet Frisina said. Police were investigating the "blossoming of a potential relationship" between Frisina and Rodriguez.

"I know that she to some degree left on her own".

Investigators were told that a friend of Rodriguez that he questioned the soccer coach about taking Caitlyn to a corn maze, the court document said.

Hunter said the teen looks very grown up but she's a high school student that he feels was influenced by someone who held a position of authority. "We had a very handsome, wonderful, very emotional reunion with her a little while ago, and we are so thankful to have her back".
