Congressman accused of sexual harassment by ex-staffer

Congressman accused of sexual harassment by ex-staffer

He later added a statement saying, "But I want to make it clear that I don't recall any of the circumstances she described".

The BuzzFeed report goes on to say the woman was not sure how to report the uncomfortable interactions with Kihuen but did speak to a midlevel staffer at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to let him know why she was abruptly quitting the campaign.

She also said Kihuen also asked her about cheating on her boyfriend and whether she would date him if they had not been working together, BuzzFeed reported.

The accusations in a report from BuzzFeed News have prompted the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to call on Kihuen to resign.

A woman who worked on Nevada Rep. Ruben Kihuen's campaign past year claims she left her job because of repeated unwanted propositions for dates and sex, according to a story in BuzzFeed News. Kihuen is now 37 years old and is unmarried. Buzzfeed granted the woman's request to have her last name withheld, so she is named only by her first name, Samantha. "Congressman Kihuen should resign", DCCC Chairman Rep.

The woman, identified only as Samantha, told BuzzFeed that Kihuen twice touched her thighs without consent. "If anyone is guilty of sexual harassment or sexual assault, they should not hold elected office", he told the publication.

Kihuen's said in a statement that the aide was a valued member of his team. The young woman's documented account is convincing, and I commend her for the courage it took to come forward.

"I was raised in a strong family that taught me to treat women with the utmost dignity and respect".

The allegations leveled at Kihuen come as a wave of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment allegations have engulfed powerful men in industries from entertainment to business to media - including NPR - and in Congress.

The accuser, identified only as Samantha by Buzzfeed, said Kihuen followed her to her auto after a fundraiser on February 6, 2016, and told her, "You look really good, I'd like to take you out if you didn't work for me".

Congressional leaders are under pressure to respond to a national outcry against sexual harassment. Pelosi made the comments to reporters but did not issue a statement calling on Conyers to resign.
