Honor unveils View 10 with 5.99-inch screen & AI capabilities

We went hands-on with the Honor View 10 at the London launch event, and these are our first impressions. It's created to go toe-to-toe with affordable flagships in the market such as the OnePlus 5T, and it's uncompromising.

Featuring a 3750 mAh battery, the Honor View 10 can charge to 50 per cent in 30 minutes thanks to a Supercharge facility. There's also a dedicated AI engine which is responsible for scrutinising scenes in real-time for automatically adjusting the camera settings.Honor has apparently partnered with Microsoft and thus the Microsoft Translators use the AI engine.

Up front, the View 10 sports a 6-inch 2160 x 1080 LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The back of the phone is less exciting, with iPhone-esque antenna lines at the top and bottom, with a solitary Honor logo and dual rear cameras. It fits a bigger display into roughly the same footprint, effectively, as its global predecessor, the Honor 8 Pro.

It's also great to see the octa-core Kirin 970 processor carried over, as it is Huawei's latest chip and a powerful alternative to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 in most other high-end Android phones this year. It has four ARM Cortex-A73 cores paired with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores, and a Mali-G72MP12, ARM's latest-generation GPU. Besides, 128GB of internal storage, the Honor V10 comes with an optional storage of 256GB via micro SD card. It also supports dual 4G and dual VoLTE along with other connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, IR Blaster, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.

Honor has formally announced the Honor V10, its AI-injected smartphone that's set to attack at a price point comparable to the OnePlus 5T. The device comes with an i7 co-processor.

On the video side of the equation, the View 10 supports up to 4K video recording.

Next big thing in this phone is the dual rear cameras. For the front camera, there is a 13MP sensor.

The 3,750 mAh battery and Honor SuperCharge technology make Honor View 10 ideal for gamers and heavy users. The smartphone will be made available in India, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, the UK, and the United States on January 8. It is all-metal and available in either black or blue.

While the 7X suits the needs of many in the mid-range, the View 10 is aimed more at the premium corner of the market.

Just like the Mate 10 Pro, the Honor camera relies heavily on AI to identify what you're taking a picture of, and adjust the image to take the best quality possible. It's also worth noting the View 10 isn't guaranteed to survive a spill, as it doesn't carry an IP water resistance rating.
