Instagram Announces New Stories Archive and Stories Highlights

With Stories Archive, Instagram is basically letting you keep your stories forever. You can also remove certain stories from your Highlights when you're over them. Once done, you can save it to your profile, and it will appear on a new section on your profile below your bio.

Instagram users can now set a Story Highlight - a semi-permanent Story loop that acts as an introductory look at your Insta. When your regular Stories expire after 24 hours, they will be automatically archived.

As you could probably guess by its name, Stories will no longer disappear after 24 hours.

Video obtained by The Next Web also reveals that Instagram may be testing a GIF feature that lets users search for and place GIFs in their stories and posts, sourcing the GIF's via Giphy.

And unlike the traditional Instagram Stories format, this particular Story remains on your profile until you remove it. For accessing the archive, the clock icon at the top-right corner of the app needs to be clicked.

Today, Instagram announced two new features and trust me they will make your experience even more better. Instagram will add your expired stories to the feature; but with option for users to opt out at any time they so desire to. From that point on, your Highlights will show up as a circle on your profile; when tapped, it will start playing. You can now bundle your favorite stories together to create individual highlights. This lets users revisit and reuse their old video clips.

Instagram is rolling out a new update for Android and iOS. Remember, archived posts are private to a user, and they won't be visible to their friends, followers on Instagram.

Do you think you'll use these new Stories features? In another move to copy the app, Insta has yet again taken a prominent feature and capitalized on it in their latest update. If you have comments regarding the new update do share them below in comments section.
