NYC hit-and-run leaves 1 dead, several injured

One person died and several others were injured on Sunday when a hit-and-run driver mowed down a group of people after a stabbing outside a New York City hookah bar, police said.

Police said they later arrested the person they believe to be the driver, who fled the scene, and recovered the vehicle in another part of Queens. Police still were sorting out the details, but said there was a dispute before a man drove into the people.

"I saw a couple of kids, just fighting", neighbor Milagros Urbina said.

One person was killed and three others were taken to local hospitals. They were screaming, it was insane. As several people were trying to stop the fight, a auto came rushing down the sidewalk, plowed into the group and kept going. The pair were recovering and in stable condition. Two people were stabbed in the fight and rushed to the hospital.

Ozzie Rogers, who witnessed the incident, told the New York Daily News that he saw the vehicle go at least 50 miles per hour on the sidewalk.

Police said the driver struck at least six people, one of whom was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are looking for a white sedan in connection with the crash.
