PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: Desert Map Name & New Weapons Revealed

I feel like I shouldn't have to append this piece with a warning, but I also feel like Xbox Australia might have underestimated how fucking bonkers some of you PUBG fans are so, please, best behaviour okay?

The millions upon millions of active players landing, looting and surviving the battle royale action of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds are intimately familiar with Erangel, the game's base map (and now, only map). The map is called Miramar and is set in the desert to give it a distinct look and feel from the Erangel map.

It contrasts to the now existing map, Erangel, in that it's not an island.

This news comes following the announcement yesterday that the new desert map, Miramar, will be playable during the final test round before PUBG hits version 1.0. "The unique terrain and dense urban areas of Miramar will create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required", the development team wrote in a post on the Steam forums.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is coming to Xbox One Game Preview December 12, but from today until December 10, you can buy the "Warrior Pack", which includes a balaclava, camo t-shirt, trousers and tennis shoes for $9.99 in the USA and £7.99 in the UK. Players should secure high vantage points by exploring the numerous construction sites, and loot for gear in the cavernous, abandoned commercial buildings.

Miramar will feature eight distinct locations: Los Leones, El Pozo, Monte Nuevo, Valle del Mar, La Cobreri, San Martin, Pecado and Chumacera.

The map is named Miramar, and will feature some weapons and vehicles exclusive to it that won't be found on the game's original map, including a Win 94 Rifle and a hefty looking pick-up truck.

All of this is to celebrate the game's console launch on Xbox One next week.
