Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) leaks with an infinity display

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2018) leaks with an infinity display

The Galaxy Note 8, Samsung's strategic smartphone for the second half of the year and the Galaxy S8 Plus for the first half of the year ranked third and fourth with 2.4% and 1.5% market shares, respectively.

With the same 5.8in and 6.2in screen sizes pegged for the models, there's been little in the way of rumours about transformative changes.

The Galaxy S9 will apparently feature a single 12 megapixel camera on the back and the S9 Plus dual 12 megapixel cameras.

More secure biometric authentication - like fingerprint sensing, iris scanning and facial recognition - is always a good thing, but the update may seem especially necessary after hackers were able to fool the iris scanner on the Galaxy S8 using a photo and contact lenses.

The manual also confirms that the phones will have a 18:9 aspect ratio with slim bezels, like many other new phones released in the past year.

The source also claimed that Samsung is on target to expand the iris scanner to its budget phones by late 2018 or early 2019. The biggest highlight feature of the phones will be the dual front-facing cameras, and come with Live Focus that will be available for selfies.

According to the leaked manual the buttons will be on-display buttons (soft buttons) due to the bezels being too small to house any capacitive buttons. Also on the left side is the key to rouse Bixby, Samsung's take on the virtual assistant. Finally sanity prevails at Samsung. As far as power goes, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will likely have 4GB or 6GB of RAM, while both phones will feature the Snapdragon 845 chip in the US. The battery is 3500mAh and is non-removable owing to its IP68 water resistance. Due to this we have no doubt that the 2018 versions of the A8 and A8 Plus will do very well in Australia should they make it to our shores. We can but hope - and wait.
