Wenger declares Walcott has Arsenal future

EVERTON have joined the race to sign Arsenal's out-of-favour winger Theo Walcott, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger has insisted that Theo Walcott does still have a future with Arsenal despite him being linked with a January exit from the club.

Walcott is yet to start a Premier League game this season and has been limited to just three substitute appearances.

The 28-year-old can also provide an option out on the wings, a position he has played at frequently for Arsenal and a position in which Everton lack players.

Despite spending nearly £150m this Summer, Everton failed to replace Romelu Lukaku following the Belgian's transfer to Manchester United, a decision that was roundly criticised amongst football professionals but the new Toffees manager defended the decision earlier this year. The England global has been sparingly used by the Frenchman this term with most of his playing time coming in the Cup games.

With speculation surrounding the futures of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere - who are out of contract at the end of the season - there could be plenty of new faces coming to north London to replace them.

The former Southampton forward has made 391 appearances in total for Arsenal over the course of his 11 year association with the club, scoring 107 goals and lifting three FA Cups in the process.

Wenger is planning to raise funds for his transfer kitty by offloading a number of fringe players over the next eight-months.
