A cold weekend ahead with more snow coming Monday

A quick moving cold front is expected to sweep across Central Indiana on late tonight and Monday Morning.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning through Friday night for most of southern IN, with up to 5 inches of snow and some ice accumulation forecast.

The temperatures are finally above freezing, but the nasty weather is far from over.

The storm is spreading snow and ice across the Great Lakes, Tennessee Valley, Ohio Valley and lower Mississippi Valley today.

Power outages have been reported in IN and Kentucky. Northern New England, especially, should expect snowfall. A flood watch last late Friday, the weather service said.

Snow will mix in with sleet anytime from the afternoon to early evening, before switching over to pure snow all night into early Saturday morning as temperatures continue to cool to the 20s and teens. This could cause flooding in low-lying areas-and when the frigid air hits all that water, the Northeast could find itself covered in glacier-like sheets of ice.

The warning is for Chautauqua and southern Erie counties from 1 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday.
