Browns Hire Eliot Wolf As Assistant GM

Browns Hire Eliot Wolf As Assistant GM

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported the deal is for five years for Gutekunst, who has been with the Packers for 19 years and was promoted to director of player personnel on March 21, 2016.

The Browns also announced they have parted ways with Ryan Griggson, who had the title of senior personnel executive in his only season with the Browns after being fired by the Colts as their general manager.

Wolf is the second Packers executive Dorsey has hired since he became the general manager of the Browns last month. Highsmith has reportedly joined the Browns front office, but it has not been made official by the team.

"Eliot has been a fine executive in this league for some time now". It was expected that he was going to meet with Oakland to work alongside general Reggie McKenzie and new head coach Jon Gruden. After serving as a scouting intern for the Packers in 1997 and a scouting assistant for the Kansas City Chiefs one year later, he was hired by Green Bay and has been with the team ever since. Highsmith is credited with pushing for the Packers to draft Donald Driver and sign undrafted Sam Shields, both serving significant roles when they played in Green Bay.

The Cleveland Browns continue to revamp their front office, and continue to pluck from the Green Bay Packers. Since 2012, he had held the title of senior personnel executive after spending 13 years in the team's college scouting department.

Wolf now has the hard task of trying to help turn around the Browns after another pitiful season that saw them become just the second team to finish with an 0-16 record.

"We're lucky to add Alonzo and Eliot to our personnel staff", Dorsey said in the team's statement on the hires.
