CBS 'Face the Nation' Host John Dickerson to Replace Charlie Rose

CBS 'Face the Nation' Host John Dickerson to Replace Charlie Rose

Dickerson, who anchors CBS News's Sunday morning show Face the Nation and serves as the network's chief Washington correspondent, will relocate to NY and join CBS This Morning co-hosts Norah O'Donnell‬ and Gayle King‬‬ on the show this Wednesday. He will join Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell on the A.M. franchise.

Dickerson, 49, will join "This Morning" female co-hosts Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. "Colleagues, newsmakers, and peers all appreciate the depth and context John Dickerson brings to every discussion of the day's events-together with his co-hosts he will project our best values on every broadcast".

Dickerson begins anchoring tomorrow, January 10, 2018, and will be based in NY. He will start on January 10 and will be based in NY.

Naming Dickerson to the role will end a period of uncertainty surrounding the program. Dickerson will transition from the FACE THE NATION anchor chair in the coming weeks as CBS News prepares to name his successor.

Rose apologized "for my inappropriate behavior" and said "I am greatly embarrassed".

And yet, the program has proved to be of growing strategic importance to the network. CBS is third behind NBC's "Today" and "Good Morning America" in viewership but has made steady progress in ratings and reputation since it was launched with Rose, O'Donnell and King six years ago.

CBS Aims to Boost Video-Streaming News Hub CBSN in 2018

CBS has yet to comment on the report.

CBS journalist John Dickerson met comedian Stephen Colbert on the floor of the 2016 Republican National Convention for CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in Cleveland, Ohio.

Now Mr. Dickerson, who until recently was better known as a writer than as the host of the CBS Sunday show "Face the Nation", is leaving Washington and embarking on a new phase in his career: the Manhattan-centric world of morning TV.

The D.C. native also serves as a political columnist for Slate magazine.

Dickerson, now host of the long-running Sunday public affairs show "Face the Nation", will "transition off" that program in the coming weeks, then a successor will be named, according to CBS.
