Home and Away fans pay tribute to Jessica Falkholt

The life support of Home and Away actor Jessica Falkholt has been switched off at a hospital in Australia following a Boxing Day crash that killed three members of her close family.

Ms Falkholt, 28, remains fighting for her life in Sydney's St George Hospital after the accident.

Since the crash, Jessica has undergone several surgeries including the removal of a kidney and part of her skull, News Corp Australia reports.

Falkholt's life support news comes just a day after her entire family were farewelled in an emotional funeral.

Craig Whitall, 50, crashed his Toyota Prado four-wheel-drive into the Falkholt's family vehicle while driving home from a methadone clinic on the New South Wales south coast, south of Sydney, on Boxing Day.

Whitall reportedly had an extensive history of driving convictions, had lost his license for extended periods of time on numerous occasions, and had been heading home from a methadone clinic at the time of the crash. She passed away surrounded by loved ones who have refused to leave her side since the devastating incident.

Annabelle, 21, was flown to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition, where she died as a result of her injuries on December 29. Whitehall had previously received a nine-year driving ban and racked up at least 10 convictions for driving while disqualified.

Jessica and Annabelle were pulled from the wreckage by motorists who stopped to help.

There are mixed reports about whether the actress has passed away, with The Home and Away Facebook page sharing a simple heartfelt update last night, "Rest in peace handsome Jess". Their lives on this earth ending on a highway makes absolutely no sense, ' he said. One woman even cited the irony of the tragedy to occur saying that Lars Falkholt was "such a careful driver".

'I always thought we would grow old together'.

The 29-year-old found fame on the small screen as Hope Morrison in Home and Away, with the long-running TV soap paving the way for her feature film debut in the forthcoming supernatural thriller Harmony. She's also had roles on other television dramas.

During the service, Jessica's uncle Paul Ponticello tearfully told mourners their family will forever be haunted by Christmas - the last time they were all together.
