I'd 'beat Oprah' in 2020 presidential match-up

I'd 'beat Oprah' in 2020 presidential match-up

United States President Donald Trump has said he would beat talk show trailblazer Oprah Winfrey if she ran against him in 2020.

Trump also used her platform to highlight the Time's Up movement and called for unity. He then shared his opinion that he didn't think Winfrey would run but that she "would be a lot of fun". "I know her very well".

She wrote: "Just saw @Oprah's empowering and inspiring speech at last night's #GoldenGlobes".

Winfrey's impassioned speech Sunday night at the Golden Globes sparked talk about whether she might follow in the footsteps of another wildly wealthy media star who jumped into politics by campaigning for the highest office in the land, Donald Trump. It was very nice...

"She loves this country and would like to be of service in some way, but I don't think she's actively considering it".

"I think lessons we all learned from watching Hillary's run, and how her ambition was unfavorably and unfairly viewed, coupled with Oprah's existing popularity, could give Oprah a strong start", Palmieri said.

Winfrey fueled speculation that she could look to mount a campaign in a rousing, almost 10-minute speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

Oprah has previously said she would never run for public office and has not commented on the recent speculation about a presidential tilt.

This isn't the first time Winfrey's name has been tossed into the political ring.

Spicer added that Winfrey didn't have the political experience to win an election against Trump - even though his old boss never worked in politics before becoming president, either. There's no question in my mind that she would be extremely formidable. "I think it's a very very intriguing idea myself".

Further praising her friend, King gushes, "I am still really on cloud nine for what she did".

While the overwhelming instinct of the chattering classes is to mock celebrities who aspire to government, that didn't happen to Winfrey in the 24 hours following the Golden Globes.

"That being said, she doesn't have the political infrastructure and we've seen this before in our history where people who have tried to pop in that are not in politics who have had a hard time adjusting".

"Given the choice between Oprah and our current president, I'm on the bus with Oprah traveling the country encouraging people to sign up and vote", he said.

"Look, it's ridiculous - and I get that", said Brad Anderson, Barack Obama's 2012 Iowa campaign director, who supports the idea of Winfrey running.

Late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel said Monday that he preferred Winfrey to Trump.
