Paige Set To Retire From In-Ring Competition

Last month on Lilian Garcia's podcast, Paige had commented that her doctor's had warned her after the last neck injury - which kept her out of the ring for over a year - that she should retire and not return.

Paige-real name Saraya-Jade Bevis-is only 25 and WWE apparently sees potential for her outside the ring. The match was stopped and a stretcher was brought out, though she eventually was able to walk out on her own power.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com reports that she was informed that WWE will not clear her medically following her latest injury. After falling victim to a sex tape leak and contemplating suicide because of it in early 2017, a new report claims the WWE star's career is over. She was believed to have suffered a stinger, or a nerve pinch injury, and was pulled from in-ring action for what was originally believed to be a timetable of a few weeks.

Although WWE has advertised Paige for the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match, she will obviously be pulled from the match and replaced.

Paige first injured her neck in 2016, not wrestling a match for 14 months after undergoing surgery in September that year.

The trio of Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, and Paige were gaining traction as an ass-kicking trio of women who seemed hellbent on taking over the RAW Women's Division. People often quip that she was born to wrestle in the womb, and The Rock is even making a film about her family of professional wrestlers.

The injury was compounded by two violations of WWE's wellness policy.

Neither she nor WWE have made any public statements since the initial report hit the web. The former Divas Champion will now be relegated to a non-physical role with WWE.
