Trump Envoy David Friedman Slams Palestinians for Preventing Peace

RAMALLAH, Palestinian Territories - The Palestinian government attacked comments Wednesday by the USA ambassador to Israel blaming it for the failure of peace efforts, after an Israeli settler was killed in the occupied West Bank.

Israeli defence minister Avigdor Lieberman said he would work to turn the unauthorised Havat Gilad outpost into a government-approved settlement in response to the shooting.

Israel disputes that its settlements are illegal and says their future should be determined in peace talks with the Palestinians. Hamas praises the killers and Palestinian Authority (PA) laws will provide them financial rewards.

A statement issued by Netanyahu's office said that Abbas' silence on the terror attack reveals "the true source of the conflict.which is the refusal to recognize the State of Israel in any boundaries accompanied by the encouragement of the murder of Israelis wherever they are". The payments account for 7 per cent of the PA's annual budget.
