Turkey says it will oust Kurdish fighters from Afrin, Syria

Turkey also strongly opposes USA military support for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which is dominated by the terrorist PKK-affiliated Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its armed-wing the People's Protection Units (YPG).

According to information gathered by Anadolu Agency in Idlib, Turkish artillery units hit PKK/PYD forces from the Reyhanli and Kirikhan dictricts of Turkey's southern province Hatay and a Turkish Armed Forces observation point in Idlib.

The comments from the Turkish Foreign Ministry come after the US Department of State this week made a similar warning to its citizens, saying Americans planning to visit Turkey should reconsider plans due to "terrorism and arbitrary detentions".

The Kurdish YPG militia said Turkish forces stationed in Syria shelled several Kurdish villages in the Afrin region on Saturday, without causing casualties.

Erdogan said that conflict was far from settled.

The Afrin operation follows Turkey's successful seven-month Operation Euphrates Shield, which ended last March. We hit them one night suddenly.

Tensions have also increased between Turkey and the United States over Washington's support for the Syrian Democratic Forces. The mainly Arab town lies west of the Euphrates, and Turkey has long demanded that Kurdish fighters pull back east of the river.

"In Manbij, if they break the promises, we will take the matter in our own hands until there are no terrorists left".

Turkey will not accept the proposal on the privileged partnership with the European Union and does not consent to a "second-class" status in relations with the alliance, Turkish Minister of European Union Affairs Omer Celik said on Saturday.

Turkey has been wary of the advance of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in northern Syria against IS.

"The U.S. sent 4,900 trucks of weapons in Syria".

Ties between Ankara and Washington, both North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies and members of the coalition against Islamic State, have been strained by the USA arrest and conviction of a Turkish banker in an Iran sanctions-busting case, a trial Turkey has dismissed as politically motivated.

"We know they sent 2,000 planes full of weapons, he added".
