Yemen's Houthi rebels claim to shoot down Saudi-led coalition's fighter jet

Anti-Houthi forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, have intensified an offensive against the Iran-aligned group that controls most of northern Yemen since former President Ali Abdullah Saleh was killed after he switched sides in Yemen's almost three-year-old civil war.

Also, a Yemeni child was injured as a result of Saudi coalition missile attack on Razeh border district.

"Whoever dares to reject their orders [will be] targeted and expelled along with his family from their tribe and from the entire area", said Sheikh Ebrahim, who is better known by his nickname "Ebrahim Adabu". They offered no further details beyond the recovery of the pilots.

Previous attempts by the United Nations envoy Ould Cheikh Ahmed had failed to reach a political settlement between the Yemeni rival forces.

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels said they shot down a Saudi-led coalition fighter jet over Yemen's Sanaa province on Sunday, according to Reuters, which cited Al-Massirah, a Houthi-owned Yemeni news channel.

- Saudi Arabia's Royal Air Force says two of its pilots whose fighter jet crashed during an operation in Yemen have been rescued.

Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki Al Malki said the jet crashed at 3.40pm on Sunday after suffering a technical failure, but did not say where the incident occurred.

"The air defense of the army and popular forces (Houthi fighters) shot down a Saudi-led coalition combat aircraft today", the report said, citing a Houthi military official.

The UAE is a leading member of the Saudi-led coalition which has been fighting in Yemen since March 2015.

The Houthi rebels seized Yemen's capital of Sanaa in 2014, forcing the country's internationally recognized president, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, to temporarily flee to Saudi Arabia.
