'90s rapper Craig Mack dies at 46

Craig Mack gave Bad Boy Records its first platinum single with with "Flava in Ya Ear", with its catchy and quirky lyrics and speedy delivery.

ET confirms with the Colleton County Coroner's Office that rapper Craig Mack died at his home in Walterboro, South Carolina, on Monday night at 9 p.m.

After a few unsuccessful attempts at landing another hit single, Mack disappeared from the hip-hop community in 2012, relocating to the Overcomer Ministry in Walterboro, S.C.

In his confirmation, Toney said: 'God bless my friend.

Born in Queens, N.Y., in 1971, Mack broke into the music scene with his 1994 hit "Flava In Ya Ear", a top-10 hit that would go on to sell over a million copies.

While The Notorious B.I.G. later became more closely associated with Bad Boy's success, Mack's "Flava" was the first of a massive 1-2 punch that anchored the label and its "Big Mack Attack" on the Rap world. "I always respected that", tweeted LL Cool J. Combs was placing a bet on two artists instead of one- Notorious B.I.G. and Craig Mack.

Mack came to prominence after the release of "Flava In Ya Ear" in 1994. Rest in Power Craig. I can not believe this dude is gone.

Mack didn't appear in Bad Boy's 2017 Apple Music documentary, Can't Stop Won't Stop, nor the 2017 documentary, Crazy Like That Glue: The Craig Mack Story, which focused on Mack's rift from Bad Boy. "Maybe he knew he was about to die but just didn't want to tell me", Mo Bee says.

Early Tuesday morning, Erick Sermon wrote that he was just finishing up Craig's new album. Rest In Peace Craig Mack.

He is survived by his wife and two adult children. May the almighty embrace your soul and life up your family and friends.

While the news of his demise remains unconfirmed, tributes have already started pouring in on social media from members of the hip-hop community.
