According to flight-tracking website FlightAware.com, Air Canada was experiencing almost 170 total flight delays as of Monday afternoon.

"We appreciate our customers' patience and we have arranged additional staffing to get our customers on their way as soon as possible", Smith added.

Vancouver International Airport also tweeted that Air Canada is experiencing "technical issues with their computer systems nationwide".

The disruption comes two weeks after the airline had a computer issue that disrupted web and mobile check-ins and call centre operations and temporarily delayed boarding on some flights.

Air Canada has announced it will launch daily, seasonal flights between Calgary and Palm Springs, and between Edmonton and Las Vegas starting October 28, 2018, the company said.

A third and-as of 5 p.m. Monday-final tweet on the issue sent at 2:38 p.m. reported that "operations were returning to normal".
