Meghan Markle carries out first royal engagement with British Queen Elizabeth

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as well as Kate Middleton and Prince William walked into Westminster Abbey in London, England on March 12, for the Commonwealth Day observance service. But her white and navy blue ensemble wasn't just a chic fashion choice for the event she attended with her fiancé Prince Harry and future siblings-in-law, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. Markle's engagement with the Queen takes place two months ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry and highlights how the royal family has warmly welcomed its newest member.

Despite the serious nature of the service - a celebration of the Commonwealth countries - the royal couple clearly found something to be amused by.

Following the #CommonwealthDay Service, TRH's & Ms. Markle then had the opportunity to meet some school children who travelled from Belfast, Fyfe, Aberystwyth, Stoke-on-Trent, Alnmouth, Berwick-upon-tweed and York to attend.

Prince Harry and Markle are set to Wednesday at Windsor Castle on May 19 after dating for over a year.

Meghan, sitting next to Harry's uncle Prince Andrew, looked most amused by her fiance's reaction to the unconventional performance as the rest of the Royals carefully studied the order of service.

"Through exchanging ideas, and seeing life from other perspectives, we grow in understanding and work more collaboratively toward a common future", said the Queen.

As Prince Harry's elder brother and the future King, it wouldn't be too odd for Meghan to be lead to Harry by William.

Of course, Prince Harry was also there looking dapper as ever but that wasn't all.

While we haven't seen her in a photo with Markle yet, the queen arrived at Westminster Abbey looking regal in ruby.

"I'm really excited to perform for the Queen and the Royal Family today", Payne said in a video posted to The Royal Family's Twitter account. She was the first to do so who wasn't already married into the family.
