Philips Hue outdoor connected lighting hits US, Europe this July

Philips Hue is a popular smart home lighting system, so it was only a matter of time before the company extended to the outdoors.

Philips teased back in January that it would be launching outdoor Hue lights later in the year, and it has now provided details of the products - including pricing and availability.

Phillips has also debuted its new Hue White PAR38 light bulb [1,300 lumens ~$US30 - $60], which can be easily screwed into existing outdoor lighting fixtures.

With Philips Hue, you can control your lights remotely, schedule your lights to turn on or off at certain moments of the day, as well as automatically trigger them to turn on with the location awareness feature on your mobile phone. "While Philips Hue bulbs and luminaires are available for every area inside your home, we wanted to traverse the threshold and offer connected luminaires designed for outside areas".

Finally, Calla is a bollard light, created to provide path or driveway lighting.

Take your outdoor space to the next level with access to 16 million colors and full flexibility to position the light wherever it is needed. "You can also select one of 16 million light colors to elevate your home's look or create the flawless outdoor ambiance, whether you're just relaxing or hosting family and friends for a barbeque". They will be available in Europe and the United States in July. The Philips Hue white range offers a number of products matching the decor of your house. Other products in the outdoor range are called Lucca, Tuar, Turaco and Ludere and will start at $49.99. United States only: the PAR38 lamp will retail for Dollars 29.99 for a single pack and double pack for Dollars 49.99. The Lily starter pack includes three bulbs for $279.99, and the Calla starter pack is priced at $129.99. The company's latest outdoor smart lights are created to work alongside existing fixtures within Phillips' smart lights family.
